This two-part action-adventure film was scripted by Fritz Lang and Thea von Harbou and originally intended to be directed by Lang in the Spiders serial tradition. The film also features Conrad Veidt and Lya de Putti.

This Blu-ray Disc edition has been prepared from the 1990s photochemical restoration of the film, chiefly sourced from a French language print with some footage taken from a Czech release print. In 2016, the restoration was digitally conflated from new 2K HD scans, with updated color-tinting. The film is presented here in the most-complete version available on home video.
The film is presented with a music score composed and performed by Irena and Vojtech Havoliv - The Havels.
The supplemental material includes “Turbans over Woltersdorf,” a visual essay written by David Cairns and Fiona Watson (45 minutes). As is typical of Cairn’s work, a significant amount of information is well-presented here.
This is certainly an enthusiastically recommended home video edition of this film.

This DVD edition, produced for home video by David Shepard, has been transferred from 35mm print materials. The print has significant frame jitters, dust, speckling, sprocket damage, emulsion scrapes and chipping, scuffing, and other flaws.
The film is presented with a musical score arranged and performed on synthesizers by Eric Beheim.
This edition is now out-of-print, and was touted to be the most complete version available on home video. Not the case anymore, as is seen after the release of Kino Lorber’s Blu-ray Disc edition noted above.
